The Kraken is often depicted as a gigantic tentacled sea monster. It's notorious for creating whirlpools to sink ships, or using it's terrifying tentacles to steal sailors away for a snack.
There is so much unknown about the world's oceans, even to this day. It's no surprise that sailors and sea-goers from thousands of years ago sought to explain away tragedy by developing these robust monster myths.
